Tips for the best results

1
Always test before printing. Scan your QR code with at least two different phones before committing to a print run. Lighting and camera quality vary.
2
Use a short URL if possible. Shorter URLs create simpler QR patterns with fewer modules, which are easier to scan — especially at small sizes. A URL shortener like bit.ly can help.
3
Print at least 2cm × 2cm. The minimum recommended print size for reliable scanning is 2×2 cm at standard arm's length. Go larger for outdoor signage. See our full print size guide →
4
Keep high contrast. Black on white is always most reliable. If you customise colours, ensure strong contrast between the dark modules and the background.
5
Make sure the URL is live. A QR code pointing to a broken or redirecting link still scans — but frustrates users. Double-check the destination URL is active before printing.
